Commandments of the local

Just like you prepare a well-designed CV before going for an interview, you need to know some rules before getting into the Mumbai local. We’ve been sitting home since March hence we might as well have forgotten those golden rules. No worries, I am here to help you revise those funny yet so practical rules. Remember that failing to observe these rules might put you in trouble and the seriousness of the trouble might range from offensive words to getting pummeled or even grabbing and pulling hair. Sounds scary right. Let’s learn the rules to be saved in our future local trips.

1.Thou shall not complaint.

("aap ka ye sanskar hai?" ,"apka baal mere muh pe aa raha h", "train tera baap ka hai kya?"...such sentences must be ignored.)

The train belongs to no one as an individual hence adjustment is the key point to happily travel in a local.

2. Thou shall not keep your foot on the seat, someone else is supposed to sit there in some time.

P.S.: Follow this rule even when no one is watching or else people like me might capture.

3. Thou shall not rely on the local during rainy season specially when low lying stations like Kurla gets flooded.

(This is for Harbour and Central line travelers.)

4.Thou shall switch off the fan switch on reaching the train's destination.

5.Thou shall avoid wearing white shoes.

During peak hours there are high chance of your footwear getting dirty which might turn out to be another reason for depression (I’m serious)

Also avoid children during peak hours.

6.Thou shall not throw your waste from the Vashi bridge (or any water bodies)

As the waste you throw might one day enter back into your house. Must remember that the sea will one day give you back whatever you have given.

7. Thou shall install the m-indicator app if you are a regular commutator of the local.

Also, if you are bored / need updates about trains read the chat section for live and mazzedar updates.

8. Thou shall treat co passengers/vendors with due respect.

You cannot say the person you are fighting with might be already going through a bad time and you don't need to be an add-on to anyone's sorrow.

Also, you might really not know if you are fighting with lawyer or police in disguise. Hence it is much safer to avoid fights.

9. Thou shall have little patience while dealing with the women in the ladies’ compartment.

There are high chances that you might learn new words which may/may not be civilized. Fighting with some women will be like burning yourself with coal and sulfur. Hence, always use silence at such situations else they won't let you go without seeing you in tears.

10. Thou must not look into someone's phone and thou must not look at others specially while they are having something.

Harbour line tip:

-Thou shall not look at Western or central line trains with lust.

Just keep calm because you will get their train after their use.

-Thou shall brag about the marvelous station of Navi Mumbai instead of focusing on not having fast local.

*Do not drink and sleep inside a local because you might sleep like a baby and wake up to see yourself in the ladies compartment for no reason*

P.S.: All the images are captured when I used to travel in the local without fearing the virus.

Wishing all my readers a very happy FRIENDSHIP DAY.
